Swagbucks: Zombies v. Vampires Week 1

Happy Wednesday!  Last week, I told you about the new Swagbucks promotion, Zombies v. Vampires., and promised you a weekly update on how I’m doing.  I’m pleased to report that my team, Team Zombies, is slightly ahead 54,498 to the Team Vampire’s 52,974.  Since you have to complete your daily meter to add to your team’s total, I am finding it difficult to add points to my team’s tally.  I don’t always meet my meter challenge every day.

The great thing about this promotion, however, is that it has pushed me to be a little more dedicated to adding to my Swagbucks total.  I’ve noticed a difference in how many swag bucks I’ve accumulated.  In just one week, I’ve added 133 swag bucks to my ledger.   If you break that down in terms of an Amazon.com gift card (which costs 450 swag bucks), I’ve earned 30% of a $5 Amazon.com gift card, or $1.50 in one week.  If you’re trying to accumulate some extra cash for Christmas or you’re just hard-pressed for funds, Swagbucks is a great way to earn a little extra!

Here are my top three tips this week for adding to your daily meter for the Zombies v. Vampires challenge:

  1. Check the Swagbucks homepage once or twice a day.  You can often find links for videos to watch for 1 sb, links to high-value coupons (you earn 10 swagbucks at a later date for coupons you redeem), and daily surveys.
  2. Complete your daily three.  Downloading and daily refreshing the Swagbucks toolbar earns you 1 sb.  Scan through the No Obligation Special Offers (NOSO) for 2 sb, and answer the daily poll for a quick 1 sb.  There’s a handy checklist on the Swagbucks homepage to remind you of these easy ways to earn.
  3. Shop & Earn.  With Swagbucks’ shop and earn, you’ll earn so many swagbucks per each dollar you spend at merchants like the Disney Store, Target, Kmart, and Walmart.  If you’re starting your holiday shopping early, this would be a great way to add to your swagbucks total quickly.  It’s also much faster to cash in your Swagbucks than to wait for a check from places like Shop at Home or Ebates.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do earn Swagbucks if you sign up as a referral through one of my links.

Swagbucks: Zombies vs. Vampires

Swagbucks puts the “treat” in Trick or Treat with its latest team challenge:  Zombies vs. Vampires. Starting today through the rest of the month, this ghastly team challenge will make your Daily Earning Meter more rewarding and help you earn reward points towards free stuff. Every day from the start of the challenge, you can win a point for your team by completing your Daily Ghoul.  Whether you’re a zombie or vampire, score points for your team to be declared the ultimate monsters!

But even if you aren’t on the winning team, there are ways to earn bonus Swag Bucks for as little as completing five (5) days of your Daily Ghoul Meter throughout the month. The more days you complete, the more opportunity you have to win bonus Swag Bucks. Who knew the undead were so ready to reward you with more?

The challenge starts on your homepage. Click on “Max Your Bonus” on the Daily Ghoul Meter (it’s the October version of your Daily Goal Meter and thus will remain like this the whole month), and you’ll arrive at the official Zombies vs. Vampires page to join in on the Ghoulish earning spree.

The multiple tiers of bonus Swag Bucks is a lot to take in for us mere mortals, so here’s a quick breakdown of the bonuses:

If you’re on the Winning Team, the team with the most points at the end of the challenge (10/31), this is what you will earn:
If you contributed between 5 – 19 points you will earn your daily bonuses plus 40 SBs.
If you contributed between 20 – 30 points you will earn your daily bonuses plus 150 SBs.
If you contributed 29 points you will earn your  daily bonuses + 150 Special Bonus points + 150 SBs for reaching your goal every day of the month.

If you’re on the Runner Up Team, this is what you will earn:
If you contributed between 5 – 19 points you will earn your daily bonuses plus 30 SBs
.
If you contributed between 20 – 30 points you will earn your daily bonuses plus 130 SBs
.
If you contributed 29 points you will earn your daily bonuses + 150 Special Bonus points + 130 SBs for reaching your goal every day of the month.

To learn more about their challenge, take a look at the detailed blog post here. Check the SB Originals page on SBTV later today for a video tutorial of how it works.

I checked in this morning, and I’m a zombie!  Mmm….brains!  I’ll be updating you on my progress on Facebook and Twitter, as well as a weekly reminder post here on the Frugal BookwormSwagbucks is a great way to help you earn gift cards and Paypal cash for your Christmas spending!
